I think I need to work more on my squats to get them around parallel. I have some videos that show how bad I have them… 🙁 one day hopefully I’ll be able to catch up!

I go ass to grass in training, but in a meet I just hit parallel. For me, it makes it feel much more easier and I feel like im only going half way down.

Its always about speed. You want to generate as much force possible when you lift.
One critical element, is how far the bar is down on the back> The lower the bar on the back, the more you will be HIP HIGH. The illusion of being deep. High bar squatters tend to squat deeper easier and are able to adjust depth more accurately.

I actually can squat more when going atg because I’m able to bounce my hamstrings off my calves

For some lifters ATG is actually easier.
Me personally, I find going fast on the concentric portion of the squat will allow you to squat more weight. It allows you to use some stretch reflext and momentum that you just don’t get while doing a slow concentric. when you go super slow on a the concentric portion , its almost like a paused squat, and is uch harder

I get what your saying here. but half squats are for pussies. and if you squat deeper and atg. your actually stronger than a guy who half squats. and besides even if your at a meet. you’ll look like a fuckin champ going atg. and then you can see all the woman doing half reps
are just below parallel squats better than ATG for general strength? my ATG is stronger than parallel for some reason
