Reebok CrossFit Lifter Plus 2.0 Review

March 29, 2016 by warrioradmin

In out last post we discussed the key elements you should look for in a Great weightlifting Shoe and today we checkout one of those shoes. After wearing out my old pair of Reeboks, it was time to re-up. It just so happens that this was great timing, as they had just come out with their new Reebok CrossFit Lifter Plus 2.0. I immediately was drawn to the show because of the look and also because I’ve worn Reeboks before, as they’ve proven to be one of the more, “true to size” brands I’ve ever worn.

The good news is that Reebok continues the trend with great products, as the Lifter Plus 2.0 raises the bar even higher than it was previously set. That being said, there are a few things that could use a bit of improvement.

To add to our list of advanced lifting shoes, here is a review of the Reebok CrossFit Lifter Plus 2.0.  Be sure to take a look at the rest of our reviews, as you go to make your decision as to which is best for you.

Crossfit Lifter 2.0 Product Features And Overview

Reebo Crossfit Lifter Plus 2.0 lifting shoe

One reason that we’ve gone back to Reebok time and time again is because of the supreme comfort that is provided. After wearing the Adidas Adipower and being able to feel the added insole support, we have pretty high expectations in terms of what to expect for comfort. The great news is that the Lifter Plus 2.0 exceeds expectations.

What’s even better about the amount of comfort that is offered in the lifter is that athletes will get the added support in the 2.0 without any additional height in the shoes. Anyone who has ever thrown up a lot of weight at the gym can attest to the fact that lower shoes are better, and Reebok keeps a low profile.

If you are an athlete that also enjoys training CrossFit, you’ll be happy to know that your Lifter Plus 2.0 are pretty adaptable to that sport as well. Even though we did notice a bit of concern in terms of stability, there was enough added comfort that made it very easy to actively bounce around a CrossFit WOD. We’ll trade that stability for comfort any day of the week.

It’s also important to note that the Reebok Lifter 2.0 has an incredibly roomy space in the forefront of the shoe. That means if you have larger toes, or just a wide foot, you’ll enjoy the added room. On the other hand, those that have smaller feet may not appreciate the additional space, as it may feel a bit wobbly while training.

Things To Consider about the Reebok Lifter Plus

Lifter Plus 2.0

All of the benefits aside, there are a few things to keep in mind about the Reebok Lifter 2.0 that could be improved. The first is the strap that goes across the middle of the tongue. With the last pair of Reeboks that we had, the strap was noticeably a weak feature. And while it has gotten better, it still has some improvement to consider. That is mostly because it seems as if the velcro of the strap isn’t firm enough, and instead it comes a bit loose after a few tears. You are going to want to have a pair of shoes that are as tough as you are, but just be aware of the straps here.

The other slight concern with the Lifter 2.0 was around the outer part of the ankle. We noticed that where the cloth fabric met the mesh material, there was just a slight bit of wear and tear. Though this is normal for gym shoes, we’d expect to get further down the road before starting to have these concerns.

Reebok Lifter Plus 2.0Pros of the Reebok 2.0

  • Reebok is an obvious player in the shoe industry, and that is no different when it comes to their powerlifting and CrossFit models. Whether you are looking to have something that is ideal for either sport, you’ll be set with the Reebok Lifter 2.0.
  • This shoe is very comfortable and provides a low profile that feels great while lifting.
  • Athletes with wider feet will enjoy the additional space in the forefront of the shoe.

Cons of the Reebok 2.0

  • There are just a few noticeable concerns when it comes to the quality of the shoe. At north of $150, you’d want the best for your gym shoe. Hopefully these experiences were just a one-time occurrence.
  • Limited choices for colors. If you don’t like the red and black look, you might be out of luck.

Our Rating on the 2.0:

Summary

  • Reebok is known brand with a good track record for making quality products.
  • This shoe is very comfortable, provides great support and has a low profile that feels great while lifting.
  • Athletes with wider feet will enjoy the additional space in the forefront of the shoe.

We give the Reebok Lifter this rating because you can’t ignore the few physical imperfections, which is really what hurts the most. However, the quality and support of the shoe is certainly what sets it apart from its competition.

Who Is The Reebok CrossFit Lifter 2.0 Weightlifting Shoe Best For?

Crossfit Lifter Plus 2.0

If you’ve worn Reebok before, and this is the only shoe company that you swear by, then you can’t go wrong with the CrossFit Lifter. Granted, there are a few issues here and there. However, athletes with larger toes will appreciate the additional size. And if you enjoy the fit that Reebok provides, then it may not be worth jumping to another brand.

It’s also worth saying that if you have a pair of CrossFit LIfter’s that don’t start to tread, you are getting an awesome deal for around $150.

Our Verdict on the Reebok Lifter 2.0

Are there other shoes out there that we like? Yes. That being said, the Reebok CrossFit Lifter 2.0 does deserve it’s claim a top the list of superior options for powerlifting shoes. The truth is that some companies have more technology and experience, so they make shoes that you can trust more. That being the case with Reebok, you take what you can get when it comes to those few slight blemishes.

Overall, this is an awesome shoe at a great price. For only $150, you likely won’t be able to find a comparable shoe that can be considered an elite option for those that are looking to get involved in powerlifting on a more serious basis.
