The older I become, the less I really care about what people do. If they train and go to a meet, fine. If they train and don’t go to a meet, fine. Everybody has their own path and their own reasons.

When I weighed 2 of my 45s at home, they weight 41.5 lbs a peice.  These were brand new plates. Such bullshit. I have 2 CAP and 2 Weider plates, and they actually weight 45 lbs

Jonnie im from Australia and been hitting gyms for over 26 years and i must say your video’s are truly amazing. The quality of information you present and the clarity in which you present it for a young man is a credit to you. Keep up the great work mate. At the age of 40 i might just enter my first meet within the next 12 months.

I really agree with you on this subject. If you are a person that thinks the sport is about impressing people and being awesome is the reason for competing than you are the person that should attend and put their ego aside. If you go for the first time looking to crush the numbers and win likely you will miss out on part of what makes competing both fun and great. There are also a lot of practical reasons. Attending will give you confidence in the rules and your environment and you will be far less likely to fail lifts due to rookie mistakes. The next meet you go to you will know exactly what to expect and have less pressure on yourself to perform and can keep your focus on the proper areas.

No meets in my state for the rest of this year from the USAPL. Hrmm. Does anyone have any ideas for another good place to try to find local meets?
